Season Points update

Season points table will be added shortly, there’s a few changes that needs to be made to the timing program report printout, and then final edits on the spreadsheet can be made. Once these things are completed it will streamline getting the results printed and audited and will allow me to have final results for both the event and the season posted either the same day of the event or the following day for sure (Depending on how long it takes me to get home after the event and socializing)

Special Thanks to Brian Fipps, Roger Knop, Kevin Knop, Chad Rice, Don Wood, and Stephen Sharp for the start of a great season with some awesome courses and very little delays on getting started and setting up on each event! Great Job everyone!

2018 Event #2 recap – by Greg Blocker

Oklahoma Region SCCA hosted Autocross Event #2 on Sunday April 8th at Remington Park. Total of 62 competitors braved the cold temperatures to test their abilities on a beautifully designed course by Stephen Sharp. The course contained multiple technical elements along with higher speed areas to equalize the competition between all car classes.

EXTREME CLASS (6 competitors – SS, CAMS, SSM)

These high horsepower machines struggled for grip with the cold weather conditions and cold tires in the morning session. William Twelves (Choctaw) driving his 2016 Corvette Z06 was able to drop a few seconds with each run and ended his morning session with a 45.073 and early leader of the class. Mark Council (Edmond), in his Vorshlag Motorsports 2002 Corvette, completed his 4th run in 46.468 to land him in 2nd place in the class. Robert May (OKC) in his 2018 Corvette Grand Sport pressed maybe a little too hard on his 4th run for a DNF. His third run of 47.573 put him in 3rd place after the first four runs. Cameron Campbell (Edmond) had all four clean runs in his 2015 Dodge Viper GT with a best time of 48.781 to finish the morning in 4th place in the class. Cameron Smith (OKC) co-driving the Vorshlag Motorsports 2002 Corvette elected to take it easy on his first run of the morning but steadily improved each run. His best run was also his fourth finishing with a 50.886(1) and 5th place. Dewayne Weston (Moore) and his 1999 RNR Tire Corvette struggled with the course on his first two runs (DNF’s), but was able to end the morning with a 52.824 in 6th place.

With similar weather conditions for the afternoon session, times only improved marginally. William Twelves had multiple afternoon runs in the 45’s but was unable to improve his 45.073 from the morning. His morning time was enough to retain his place finishing 1st in the class. Mark Council was able to improve on his morning time and finished with a 45.748 and 2nd place in class. Robert May hit a few cones in the afternoon but his last run improved his time to 46.75 and 3rd place. Cameron Smith also improved his time and finished in 4th with a 47.331 jumping ahead of Cameron Campbell and his afternoon best 48.241. Dewayne Weston had four clean runs dropping over two seconds and finishing with a best run of 50.507 6th place.
